Announcing Rush WI Players of the Week!

We are announcing a new series in our club of Rush Wisconsin Players of the Week. Throughout the season we will be highlighting players who display the Rush Core Values in their everyday actions and interactions.
This last Saturday on Rush Opening Day, Emily Raisleger and Caitlynn Owens displayed Leadership and Unity. During the Coaches vs. Players game, a few of our youngest Rush girl athletes stayed behind to watch and cheer on the team of Players. After many minutes of observing, the girls asked one of the coaches if they could play too. The Players team was told to work the younger girls into their roster as they saw fit.

Emily and Caitlynn popped right up and approached the 3 young girls and asked which positions they played. The girls, now intimidated, stated they could just play defense, in the back and away from the action. Caitlynn spoke up right away and said, “No, what positions do you like to play? You can play where you want to play.” After the girls responded with their preferred positions, Emily made a point to ask each girl their names and repeated it back loudly so the team could hear and get to know them.
These small actions from Emily and Caitlynn had a huge effect on the young athletes with their confidence to be able to play with the older girls, and also against the coaches. We thought this displayed a great deal of Leadership to step up and get to know their new teammates no matter what the age, size, or ability. They also displayed Unity in breaking down any insecurities their new teammates had and redirected them to focus on the game at hand.
We’re proud to have Emily and Caitlynn in Rush Wisconsin! Congratulations Players of the Week!
